On the back of reports they consulted Waleed Aly on proposed rule changes for 2019, the AFL have revealed that Ray Meagher was just one of many other entertainment icons part of their state of the game committee.

Meagher, best known for playing Alf Stewart in channel sevens Home and Away, said they (the committee) “had made some exciting changes”.

“It was about time those galahs (the AFL) did something... stone the flamin Adelaide Crows... you can't spell AFL without Alf”.

Clarifying his remarks, Meagher, a passionate Port Adelaide supporter, said he wasn’t suggesting fans throw heavy rocks at the Adelaide Football Club, and it was merely a “figure of speech”.

“Give me strength, you flamin mongrels are putting words in me mouth”.
