Budding journalist, Sam McClure has today again stolen the spotlight from a young AFL player on the eve of a big personal announcement.

A day after being criticised for a Tweet that retired St Kilda’s Koby Stevens to the general public, before the midfielder could formally address his teammates, the plucky cadet told 800.85 FMs Bazza and Mungo he’s “loyal to the story, not the individuals involved”.

“I’m not just called Scoop because I have a head like a spade” McClure told the popular East Coast radio program this morning.

“I have a commitment as an AFL journo, and Twitter user, to publish my every thought, fantasy, and premonition, be it factual, ethical, or otherwise.”

In the latest breach of morality, McClure pre-empted a young Western Bulldogs players engagement, announcing that talented forward Fergus Greene was preparing to propose to his girlfriend during a secret, romantic Rockpool dinner.

“Western Bulldogs Ferg Greene to get down on one knee tonight.

He will speak to partners father later this afternoon, then meet (soon to be) fiancé at restaurant.

Ring will be hidden in tiramisu dessert” he tweeted from The Whitten Oval toilet block.

It appears love is also in the air for the spritely newshound with sources revealing McClure, too, has entered a romantic relationship with the man in the mirror.

More to come.
