Ahead of their TV rights killing Friday Night Footy match, Carlton board member Chris Judd has asked fans of the would-be wooden spooners to remain “bound by blue”, but for some players wives and girlfriends, that is proving hard.

Wishing to remain anonymous, “Chantelle ”, the girlfriend of a current “Baggers” small forward, told Bazza and Mungo on 800.85 Sport FM of the humiliation attached to dating a member of one of the competition’s perennial under-achievers.

“When we started dating, I used to post pictures at games, and shoe-horn it (his football career) into conversations with everyone… but not any more.”

“Now if someone asks what my partner does, I tell them he’s unemployed… it’s less embarrassing”

“The reactions are really positive. People have been offering to give him a days work. My manager asked if he’d be interested in mowing her lawns for fifty bucks” she said laughing.

Not surprisingly, this current crop of Blue-bagger Babes isn’t the first collection of WAGs to have been embarrassed by their partner’s poor on-field form.

For Jenny Prescott, ex-wife of a much maligned Collingwood defender, she said trying to keep up the charade affected her career.

“The Pies stank our entire relationship. I attended the Brownlow with him one year and later that week in the office, my Boss said he saw me on telly…”

“I almost died. I played dumb and said it wasn’t me. I’d told everyone in the office he (my husband) was a chippy. I think they eventually bought it.”

But for Instagram model and notorious WAG Tess Smith, reports of partners not disclosing their men’s sporting profession was “pathetic”, saying you’ve got to “love all your new followers… and him, no matter what.”

“Make the most of it, because one day you’re sipping champas with your girlfriends in the Medallion Club, the next his contract isn’t renewed and he’s selling cars for commission.”
