I’m expecting a sterling booze-fuelled rendition of the Crowded House classic from the Flemington punters when WEATHER WITH YOU salutes at delightful each way odds. His win in the Geelong Classic outlined his Derby credentials and he’s drawn to get a cosy run here. MAIN STAGE was devastating in the UCI Stakes at Flemington before being ridden upside down last start and can win. SULLY was the big closer in the Spring Champion and can improve at this trip whilst OCEAN’S FOURTEEN is the value and can make a heist of it!
THE COOLMORE
HOUTZEN’s bravery in the Everest was reminiscent of Craig Williams standing staunchly in the face of an angry punter’s spit on Friday night! She’s jumped out stylishly and if she brings that form here she’s the one to beat. INVINCIBLE STAR loves the Flemington straight and must be included. JUKEBOX and FORMALITY battled it out in the Blue Sapphire and a repeat of those performances can win this.
THE KENNEDY MILE
TOSEN STARDOM usurped former Lord Mayer John So’s coveted title of ‘Melbourne’s favourite oriental import’ after he finally broke through for his maiden G1 win last start and looks the best bet of the day here for mine. The LUCKY HUSSLER of old rose from the ashes in the Crystal Mile on the weekend and is on the quick backup. DIBAYANI is the real value here - although not a noted winner, he’s been set for this race and will run out of his skin. SO SI BON is the absolute blowout hope and must be included in multiples.
THE MYER
By race 6 @ 3.05pm the off-track fillies and mares will have smashed a bottle of Veuve and be carrying their shoes. Luckily these ladies on the track will be providing some class – what a cracking field! GLOBAL GLAMOUR was so tough last start and will take improvement from the first up run. COOL PASSION has been a revelation this Spring and has shown she can match it with the best of them. SILENT SEDITION was closing hard last start and the step up to the mile suits whilst HEAVENS ABOVE is the value. She’s been ticking over nicely and her canny Trainer Tim Martin will have her primed for this.
