After going agonisingly close to securing Dustin Martin’s signature in 2017, and just missing out on other young high profile recruits, Josh Kelly and Jordan DeGoey, the tide has turned at Arden Street, with Brad Scott announcing the club has secured their first “big fish”.

“We’re really pleased to have attracted a bonafide A Grader to our club” the Kangaroos Coach told a smattering of passers-by.

“It’s not every day an AFL club Captain, and player who has kicked over 500 goals, signs at your club.”

The announcement comes in the wake of Brent Harvey sensationally informing his current club, North Heidelberg, that he had agreed to terms with North Melbourne.

Harvey, 40, has been in outstanding form for The Bulldogs in the Northern Football League, averaging 30 possessions and 2.75 goals per game in season 2018, helping the division two team to top position on the ladder.

He told the popular East Coast radio program 800.85 Sport FM’s Bazza and Mungo that although being overlooked in the previous four drafts, he “never gave up” on his dream of again playing AFL.

“It was hard (not being drafted)… People said I was too small, too old, too hungry, and it wouldn’t happen, but I just kept working hard” said the flashy rover.

After putting pen to paper, “Boomer”, as he’s affectionately known, informed club officials he wouldn’t be available for The Kangaroos round 15 fixture next year, as he was going to be celebrating 20 year premiership reunion.

UPDATE:

The good news and major signings keep coming at Arden Street with Michael Firrito inking a one year deal with the club, and graphic designer Matthew Stapp re-commiting to North Melbourne for a further two years.
