The fallout of Melbourne Victory’s dramatic extra time win continues with the A League’s match review panel learning that Kevin Muscat isn’t in fact the teams maddest member.

Still in shock, A League CEO David Gallop said he was “stunned” and has asked officials to double check the findings.

“Not only did we think he was their (Victory’s) baddest dude, but also the competitions… we’re taking a second look at the report now” said Mr Gallop from outside league headquarters.

The review came in light of Victory assistants, Jean Claude Van Damm Jean-Paul de Marigny and “Mean” Dean Anastasiadis, red cards during Saturday night’s big blue.

Moments after Terry Anotinis put Melbourne ahead, de Marigny and Anastasiadis stormed the field, inciting an altercation with Sydney FC stalwart David Carney.

As the hostilities heightened, head coach Muscat went the surprising route of celebrating his teams go-ahead goal, rather than taking the opportunity to get physical with the opposition. It was this decision that the match review panel cited as the grounds for demoting Muscat to the third meanest member of the Victory.

On learning of the decision, Muscat vowed to “hit back”, warning the league “there’s one game still to go”.

“If we go one up this week, I’ll make that love tap JP (de Marigny) gave Carney look like child’s play”.

As for de Marigny, who won’t be able to take up his role with the team in Saturday’s decider, he said the decision was “a disgrace”, before adding he was “doing the competition a service”.

“Carney’s been asking for it for years.”

Melbourne Victory take on Ernie Merricks Newcastle Jets on Saturday at 7:50PM AEST.
