Hot off a big night's work, Ray Chamberlain has told 800.85 Sport FM’s Bazza and Mungo that “it’s all about me”.

“Fans pay good money to hear me and my whistle” said the Websters Dictionary definition of a small man.

“Like if you go to a Coldplay concert. You want hear Chris Martin sing the classics… it’s no different.”

Chamberlain definitely didn’t let his fans down in the Richmond Vs Sydney top of the table clash, blowing the whistle on the majority of the 43 free kicks awarded on the night, including two horrendous gifts to Lance Franklin, which “Razor”, as he’s affectionately known, explained.

“People love seeing me influence a marquee match up like that one (Rance and Franklin). I’m not going to sit back and let two modern day great’s go at it without getting involved.”

Talkback caller, Macca from Warrandyte, argued the game might be better off without the umpires being mic’d up, and the best games are those when the umpires go unnoticed.

A spokesperson for the AFL Umpires Association, Tim White-Maggotte, rebuked those suggestions, adding that the umpires are “the real stars of the show”.

“Do you know how many kids out there barrack for the umpires? Too many to count.”

As for Chamberlain, who now has 300 of the most horrendous games officiated under his belt, he just likes to take it one week at a time.

“I’ve got Sydney versus Geelong next week, so I move on pretty quickly. I need to turn my attention to ruining the Luke Parker, Joel Selwood, battle. Few early whistles. Assert my authority."

SportChamps Tournament Betting have Chamberlain "Free Kicks Paid" over / under at 14.5 for Round 16 paying $1.90 and a juicy multi of +14 Free Kicks into +3 Fifty Metre Penalties paying $7.
