The World’s fastest ever man, Usain Bolt, will lead the line for Australia in their Asian Cup defence in 2020 if Socceroos coach Graham Arnold has his way.

Having shown nothing more than a heavy first touch and propensity to get offside in his fifteen minute trial with the Central Coast Mariners, it is understood the one-sided Jamaican is already “Arnies” preferred number nine.

“It’s exciting. He has the speed of Kylian Mbappe, Peter Crouch’s height and head, plus a left foot like Arjen Robben” Arnold told reporters outside the AIS.

Despite being born in Kingston, and having competed for Jamaica at three Olympic Games as a track athlete, Football Federation Australia CEO David Gallop believed making Bolt and Australian citizen was “merely paperwork”.

“It won’t be an issue. Look at France. They should be in the African Cup of Nations in two years, not the European Championships, but no one minds… it’s great.” said Gallop to a packed press conference.

While some have questioned Bolt’s ability to take up the sport at 31 years of age, another former Jamaican sprinter, Yul Brenner, backed his (soon to be former) countryman to “easily” make the transition.

“I did it. In 1993. I went from track runner to bobsledder in the space of one summer under John Candy’s coaching. Haven’t you seen Cool Runnings?”

With the countries greatest ever goal scorer, Tim Cahill, almost certain to retire from National duties, this reporter for one is hoping the FFA can pull this off.
