A senior AFL official has spoken of his “disappointment” at a handful of “poorly informed” footballers that chose to go against convention and not holiday in Noosa and / or Bali this post season.

“I think they’ve outsmarted themselves, personally” said a dejected Paul Marsh outside the AFLPA Docklands offices.

“There’s a reason ninety-nine percent of players choose them (Noosa and Bali)"

"For the family friendly option, Noosa foreshore… all of Carlton come here in September.”

“Or for the more intrepid traveller, you’ve got tried and true Bali" added the Players Associations CEO.

Bali has long been a favoured destination for out of season sportsmen, with buckets, Bintangs and bargain-priced erotic massages a favourite with footballers that like to blow off some steam.

It is particularly popular for being far enough away that players can escape the spotlight, but still close enough so as they get that all-important recognition.

But has the Indonesian islands stronghold on our oval shaped ball chasing God's loosened for good?

Well no, at least not if Marsh and his friends at AFL House have a say in it.

As far as the rebel revellers that chose to explore other parts of the globe in their eight week break, Marsh says “it’s very much watch this space”.

“We have put a lot of effort into these holiday heartlands and if these cashed up Bogans think they can go to bloody Machu Piichu and friggin' Egypt, we’ll see about that”
