Max Hopp has been cautioned by the darts governing body for his “bland” appearance.

After competing in the World Grand Prix, the up and coming young German was told to “be weirder” by tournaments administrators or risk losing his spot on tour.

“He’s got a very businessman-like hair style... it's disappointing” said Juan Hahndred-Ayety.

“He could learn a lot from blokes like Snakebite (Peter Wright). Terrible mohawk. Paint all over his head. We love that sh*t. He knows he can never go back and get a real job looking the way he does” added the Darts Tours Head of Marketing.

Zany hair and a relaxed attitude to health and fitness is as much a part of a successful darts career as throwing pointy objects. In many cases, it's a good nickname that's “the most crucial part” to a players success said leading pro Tim “Bulls” Eyles.

The Wizz, Mad Monk, Bobby Dazzler, Old Stoneface… you think they’d have made it without them (nicknames). Not on your fu*king life”.

For Hopp, he says he’s taken the advice “on board” and will go away and look to “build an image” before his next major tournament.

“I’ve got some ideas already. I’m thinking maybe Max “The Bunny” Hopp. Wear rabbit ears or something? We’ll see.”
