Adding to a week that included a VFL Grand Final and best on ground medal, culminating in a remarkable debut in Saturday's AFL decider, things just keep getting better for Richmond’s newest cult hero Marlion Pickett.

Today the 27 year old has told of how he also won 1.6 million pounds in a random mobile phone raffle over the weekend.

“I don’t even remember entering it… but there it is, on my phone”.

Mobile phone lotteries have long been the domain of telecommunications extortionists, so on news of Pickett’s windfall, Richmond Football Club officials suspected their mid-season recruit had been the victim of an internet scam, engaging fraud expert Nigel Erian-Prince to investigate. His findings were “a shock”.

“Typically these are (scams), and unsuspecting victims have their bank accounts drained” said the former Police chief of internet fraud.

“Amazingly that’s not the case this time, and Marlion has jumped into his bank app today to find the full two point nine million aussie dollars in his account”.

A man of few words, Pickett said the cash windfall was “good”.

As for what he’ll spend the money on.

“Maybe some new football boots. That blind turn lit my old pair on fire”.

Enjoy it, Marlion.
